Following an in-depth site assessment, our team identified Voltage Optimisation (VO) as a key opportunity, a technology proven to improve energy efficiency and protect electrical equipment by regulating the voltage supply to optimal levels.
Challenge:
Like many commercial buildings in the UK, Voco Winchester was receiving an incoming electrical supply voltage significantly higher than necessary for its operations. While this is a common occurrence, the impact is far from harmless:
• Wasted energy through excess supply
• Higher electricity costs
• Shortened equipment lifespan due to over-voltage stress
The challenge was clear, reduce and stabilise voltage closer to 220V (the level most electrical equipment is designed for) without disrupting hotel operations or impacting the guest experience.
Solution:
On 24 March 2025, Powerhub Solutions installed a high-efficiency Voltage Optimisation unit tailored specifically to Voco Winchester’s energy profile.
The system works by lowering and stabilising the incoming voltage, cutting waste while extending the life of electrical assets. Our installation team completed the process quickly and with minimal disruption, allowing the hotel to remain fully operational throughout.

Just over three weeks after installation, the numbers spoke for themselves:
• 4,300+ kWh saved in the first few weeks
• 72,000+ kWh projected annual savings
• Lower energy bills and reduced CO₂ emissions
