Case Study:
RBH Hospitality Management

Background

RBH is a leading hospitality management company with over 20 years of experience, overseeing the operation of 200 economy and luxury hotels across the UK. Committed to environmental sustainability, RBH has developed a 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy aimed at making the hospitality industry more sustainable.

Challenge:

Operating a large portfolio of hotels with extensive operating hours results in high energy consumption. RBH sought to reduce energy usage, lower carbon emissions, and decrease energy costs across their properties, aligning with their sustainability objectives without compromising guest comfort.

Solutions:

To address these challenges, RBH worked with Powerhuto implement Voltage Optimisation (VO) technology across multiple sites. VO reduces the incoming mains voltage to optimal levels, thereby decreasing energy consumption and enhancing the efficiency of electrical equipment. This initiative was part of RBH’s broader decarbonisation programme.

Results:

The deployment of Voltage Optimisation technology resulted in substantial benefits:

  • Annual Energy Savings: The VO units collectively achieved annual savings of 591,806.83 kWh across 14 sites.
  • Carbon Emission Reduction: These energy savings corresponded to an annual reduction of 122,547.81 kg in carbon emissions, significantly contributing to RBH’s sustainability goals.
  • Financial Savings: The reduction in energy consumption led to decreased energy costs, enhancing the financial viability of the energy efficiency measures implemented.

”RBH have been rolling out numerous energy saving initiatives across many of our hotels as part of our decarbonisation programme, so it was great to share some of our success stories with our partners. Many thanks to Powerhub who are helping us on our journey!”

Gregor MacNaughton, Chief Technical Officer, RBH

Conclusion:

RBH successfully enhanced the energy efficiency of its operations, aligning with its commitment to environmental sustainability. The implementation of Voltage Optimisation technology not only resulted in significant energy and cost savings but also played a crucial role in reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint. This case exemplifies how targeted energy efficiency initiatives can drive both environmental and economic benefits in the pursuit of corporate sustainability goals.
